As reported by Alana House in the always excellent Drinks Digest, Treasury Wine Estates - the parent company of Wolf Blass, Penfolds & Wynns - is selling off more than 1000ha of South Australian vineyards, including a plot that was the famous hidden backbone of many Penfolds reds at Bordertown.
Indeed it was Penfolds who first planted in the area way back in 1989, and Bordertown fruit has formed an important part of Penfolds Grange, St Henri & 389 over the years. There aren't many other vineyards in Bordertown either, which makes this sale particularly significant.
